Callie

Callie is a purebred, Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. She was born October 10, 2019. She is full of energy, loves her big brother, Chief, even though he's smaller than her. Callie will eat carrots and ice cubes all day long, loves to play fetch and will do anything for a belly rub. She's definitely spoiled by being a house dog and gets tons of attention from our three children. She has beautiful markings and is currently about 55 lbs.

We used Embark to have Callie genetically tested and her results came back great! She is genetically clear for all major breed-relevant conditions, however she is a recessive carrier for the SOD1A gene, which is Degenerative Myelopathy. Having this does not impact her health at all, it would, however, impact the health of the puppies if the sire chosen would also be a carrier, which is why we were extra careful when choosing a stud to breed her with.
